About Me

I am a licensed psychologist and marriage and family therapist who uses attachment theory to inform my work with clients.  People are biologically wired for connection and the need to feel a sense of belonging. I believe that relationships are the path to healing and feeling a sense of purpose in life.

You have everything you need to create the change you want. My job is to support you in finding those internal resources.  It is an absolute honor to work with you on your journey toward growth and healing. I am humbled by the resilience and vulnerability that I witness during the process. I believe in the inherent good and value of people and it is truly powerful to witness your growth, development of self-compassion, and a connection to your authentic self.

My Approach to Individual Psychotherapy

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression,  struggling to adjust to a new situation, or using substances as a coping skill, therapy creates an opportunity to explore emotions and experiences in a safe and judgment-free space.  I offer direct, honest, and transparent conversation that will allow you to determine the goals that make sense and create meaning for you in your life.

When working with clients who have experienced trauma, whether through a specific incident or set of incidents or through developmental experiences, I believe it is critical to first learn what works best for each person before creating a treatment plan. In general, I use a combination of cognitive processing, somatic, and humanistic therapies to help move people through their painful experiences to a place where they are able to sit with the discomfort of the memories, without being overwhelmed by the experience.  I am a believer in the idea that “the only way past is through.”

My Approach to Couple’s Counseling

I use a systemic perspective when working with couples where the relationship itself is considered the client and the partners collaborate to create change that is best for them.  I believe that through creating safety, invoking vulnerability, and teaching safe reflection and feedback, all couples can create the type of emotional intimacy they desire.  I believe in working with couples on what is meaningful for them and what brings them satisfaction in their relationship.  There are no rules about what “should be,” other than physical and emotional safety, and the ideal relationship is different for each couple.

So you can learn more about my services and make sure we’re a great fit, I offer free consultations over the phone or via live video chat.

Most clients seek to be “seen” in a figurative sense, but not everyone wants to be seen (literally) during a therapy session.

Phone counseling allows clients to focus on their thoughts and emotions.
