Postpartum Support

Seeking postpartum support?

In addition to providing one-on-one therapeutic support, California Women’s Therapy also offers a virtual, 10-week postpartum support group for mothers during baby’s 1st year.

Postpartum Support for moms during baby's 1st year

Whether you’re a first-time mom, or have other children at home, the postpartum period can be challenging and overwhelming. It’s quite common to experience feelings of confusion, depression, or anxiety.

The goal of this virtual group is to provide you with the support and tools to care for yourself and to adjust to life with your new baby. Throughout our group sessions — which are held virtually for one hour per week — we will cover a range of topics. Examples of group topics include learning how to create a support structure, managing the societal expectations of being a mom, and findings ways to ask for help.

Motherhood may be stressful, but you don’t have to do it alone. Our postpartum support group is here to create a community of mothers with similar experiences, to provide support through the ups and downs of your baby’s 1st year, and to empower our members with new information and resources for moving forward.

This postpartum support group is facilitated by Kristin Evans,  a Ph.D. student at California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University – Los Angeles. As part of her dissertation research, Kristin is conducting a study on the effectiveness of maternal mental health group therapy. Though participation in this research is completely voluntary for group members, your participation in this study is encouraged and appreciated.

About Kristin Evans:

Kristin Evans is a doctoral student pursuing a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Alliant University. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Southern California (USC) as well as a Master of Arts (MA) Degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University. Kristin also teaches in the online Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP) at Pepperdine University.

Kristin is especially passionate about maternal mental health. She strongly believes that, through the support and collaboration of group therapy, new moms can instill within themselves the tools to feel good about themselves and — in turn — teach their young ones that sometimes, “it’s ok to not be okay, but as a family we will get through this.”

Kristin believes that love starts at the very beginning of our lives. Through this group, moms will strengthen their love and compassion for both themselves and their little ones. By instilling this love and compassion first into ourselves and then into our children, we can create whole families that love more deeply and compassionately.

Our postpartum support group is held virtually via Google Meet (video conferencing). Participants are asked to commit to the 10-week session for maximum benefit and group cohesion.

The standard price for this 10-week program is $99*, paid upfront.

However, if this price point would be prohibitive for you due to financial hardship, please reach out. We’re happy to work with you to make this support accessible to all.

*Scholarships are available.
